    In the West, the idea of dating is understood in many different ways – most of which are not acceptable in Islam. As Muslims who are not allowed to get any closer to adultery or fornication but we are allowed to ‘date’ in light of the Sharia principles …

    What are your thoughts on this highly controversial subject?

    in Islam the only relationship allowed is Nikah(marriage)
    dating is Haram and a western man made concept(prone to many problems,faults,errors)
    don’t live in ignorance and assume something is ok!
    we must seek knowledge from the Qu’ran and Sunnah

    I fully agree with brother Naz Sukhi. Now every haram thing will be given a name of Halal, like Halal Gambling, Halal Pork, Halal Interest, Halal Alcohol etc.. we are just sleeping and the Kuffar are playing with us.

    May Allah protect us and guide us as He guided the Sahaba(RA), aameen.

    What is dating? reason I ask is because it has different forms. It means different things to different people. If we say something is Halal or something is Haram. We must base it on Islam teachings.

    If dating is limited to knowing more about a future partner without descending into immorality then i’d say i don’t think Islam is against it! The most important issue here is that of what the partners have in mind when meeting, the circumstances in which they meet, and the level of piety of the partners themselves! However i’m not in support of leaving the intending partners to be in secluded places all alone! Allah knows best
